Background

I have completed a Masters in History, Masters in Political Science, Postgraduate Diploma in International Affairs and a MPhil History (Gold Medal) in Pakistan. I have travelled to almost fifteen countries (most of them for academic purposes) and have authored a similar number of research papers. I have about five years work experience in teaching and research. In June 2008, I joined Monash University for PhD studies.

Research

My primary interest is in China’s foreign policy and its relations with other countries, especially countries in South Asia. China’s phenomenal growth in economic, political and military terms has already started affecting the world. What would be China’s ultimate strategic behaviour once it acquired an equal (or greater) power as compared to the United States? This is one of the most daunting challenges confronting international politics. These exciting developments motivated me to study China’s foreign policy. My PhD research, however, examines the nature and dynamics of China-Pakistani relations.

Personal interests

First, I keenly read developments/news items relating to my research interests. In addition, I like swimming, jogging, gym, walking, travel, reading, going to a beach (but not in a bikini) to see the vast sea and waves. However, I often remain lazy and cannot engage in most of my interests.
