Colloquy

Colloquy is the response of Monash University graduate students to the need for a forum for graduate student debate. The aim of the journal is to provide an opportunity for the dissemination of new work in literary and cultural studies and related interdisciplinary fields.

School of Historical Studies – Eras

Eras is an online journal edited and produced by graduate students from the School of Historical Studies and is a fully refereed journal, with DEST status.

Papers published by Eras are accepted from the following disciplines:

  • History
  • Archaeology and Ancient History
  • Religion and Theology
  • Jewish Civilisation

Submissions from other disciplines with significant historical content will also be considered (e.g. Politics, Literature, Economics, Anthropology).

EDUCATION

Monash Education Research Community (MERC)

MERC is a peer support community for research students in the Faculty of Education. It has been supporting academic and social needs of research students since 1992.

ENGINEERING

Mechanical Engineering Graduates Association (MEGA)

MEGA provides an active social network for graduate students in the School of Mechanical Engineering. They host regular social events, organise educational courses, help ease people into graduate life and act to represent the interests of its members related to school issues.

Chemical Engineering Postgraduate Association

CEPA is the postgraduate student group for the School of Chemical Engineering. They run regular academic and social events for the school.

Civil Engineering Postgraduate Committee (CivilEng PostGrads)

The graduate student committee for the School of Civil Engineering organises a range of regular social and academic activities for graduate students within the school including seminars, sport events, movie nights, cultural days and an annual conference. In addition, they are able to raise graduate student issues with the Civil Engineering school.

LAW

Higher Degrees by Research (HDR) Students Group

The HDR students group was established for Law faculty HDR students in 2001 to:

  • discuss issues relevant to the research interests of HDR students; and
  • foster a collegiate spirit amongst HDR students; and
  • represent the research interests of HDR students in appropriate forums.

Law Students’ Society Juris Doctor (LLS-JD)

The LSS JD Portfolio was established in 2010 to ensure that the needs and interests of Monash University JD students are represented, considered and where possible, accommodated for by the LSS. You can also find them on Facebook.

MEDICINE, NURSING & HEALTH SCIENCES

School of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology

Necessary Outlets for Tertiary Research Doctoral Students (NOTDRS) are a graduate student group founded to encourage social interaction throughout the many laboratories in the School of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. You can also find them on Facebook.

Monash University Microbiology Postgrad Society (MUMPS)

MUMPS runs social events in the department which provide students with opportunities to meet and network. In addition, they also provide support and mentoring to all honours and PhD students. The society has a formal committee structure and runs elections once a year.

SCIENCE

Faculty of Science Postgraduate Committee

The Faculty of Science Postgraduate Committee consists of representatives of each School in the Faculty. The Committee meets every 6-8 weeks, normally with the Faculty Research and Research Training Manager and sometimes with the Associate Dean – Graduate Studies. This provides a formal opportunity for HDR students to raise issues and provide feedback on all matters related to HDR students.

Chemistry Honours and Miscellaneous Postgraduate Students (CHAMPS)

CHAMPS is a club run by Chemistry graduate students for the students and staff of the School of Chemistry at Monash University.

Our primary role is to run social and academic related events which:

  • support the needs of Honours and graduate student in the school
  • give us all a chance to hang out outside of the labs!
  • give us a chance to engage with staff and student from other groups
  • give 3rd year students a chance to meet some grad student (so we can warn them!)

In addition, CHAMPS is the connection between the student body and the School of Chemistry, so if you want help with something, come say hi! We’re probably at Cinque Lire…
