Background

Hi, my name is Ummatul Siddique and I am currently in my second year of PhD in the Department of Physiotherapy. With a strong background in physiology, my research focus on neuromuscular changes as a result of ageing. My goal is to uncover the underlying mechanisms utilising non-invasive brain stimulation techniques through which exercise influences brain and muscle function and overall quality of life.

I completed my Bachelor’s degree in Human Physiology followed by Masters degree in Medical Physiology. I ranked first in the Master’s program showcasing my commitment to academic excellence. Post this I worked as a Research Associate in the field of movement disorders where I gained valuable insights into the complexities of motor control in different disorders such as Parkinson’s Disease. During this tenure, I had the opportunity to worked closely in clinical environment and collaborate with clinicians and researchers. This experience strengthened my research skills and nurtured my passion for making meaningful difference in the field of research. I have also conducted Phase III clinical trials in Parkinson’s Disease during this tenure.

I am excited to be a part of the MGA as it provides an invaluable platform for students. Being a part of the committee, I wish to work collaboratively with the MGAEC and bring forward every minor and major issues faced by the graduate students. With my experience, I would be able to confidently chip in the best of my knowledge in making a bigger community of graduate students at both campus or university level.

Personal Interests

Apart from my academic pursuits, I find solace and inspiration in simple act of watching sunsets. This reminds me about embracing nature’s wonders and finding balance in life. Besides this I love watching movies and web series and most important my deep-rooted passion for conducting research.
